I accidentally left this little guy out of the haul. It is papier mache (I think) and is a little box. I have seen ones like this that are birds and other animals.

    Wow, you hit the jackpot! My faves are the little fox ornament and the papier mache cat container. I've always meant to watch that movie "The Artist" but haven't yet. Boy, it cleaned up at the Oscars the year it was released!

    Wow, you did really well at the Op-Shops, Laura. I can never resist a pretty plate - although I have virtually run out of space - and how cute are the metal fox and the papier mache cat. And oh, that poppy print skirt! xxx

    You're doing an "Our Flag Means Death" cosplay?? I LOVE that show (I am also a big "What We Do In Shadows" and "Wellington Paranormal" fan). I love the poppy skirt! I have never seen 'Heavenly Creatures" - shocking!

    I loved your haul video! Like Claire, I love the wraparound skirt and the fox and adore the papier mache cat - I think he's from Kashmir, most likely brought back from India! xxx

Quilt Cover to Cottagecore Dress!

This one has been a long time coming! I took a lot of breaks due to some issues and learned a lot along the way! It all began when I found a secondhand quilt cover with two really pretty patterns: I used my go-to pattern for the skirt. I went with the longer length skirt (view A and B) with the ruffle from the edge of the quilt cover on the bottom. The ruffle. I initially cut out a different bodice but I didn't like the fit. I d ecided to combine the two different fabrics into a Gunne Sax inspired dress with the bodice cut from remainders of both fabrics and a different bodice pattern.  The bodice pattern I chose. The new bodice pieces. After that I abandoned the project for quite some time. The centre bodice and side front pieces refused to line up right. I checked and made sure I had cut them out right and I had. I received advice that I needed to notch them and they finally lined up!  For the sleeves I had a limited amount of fabric so I had to go with quite small cap sleeves. G

Queensland Holiday Part 1: Ripley's Believe It or Not

DAY 1: Sunday We arrived at Gold Coast Airport from Sydney early in the morning and got a bus to Surfer's Paradise. Once there we got an early check in at our hotel in the Q1 building at about 12.15, and went out to look around. We checked out the shops and beach. We had an ocean view from our room and could see and hear the waves. DAY 2: Monday Day two's weather was punctuated by rain showers but we were doing mostly indoor activities, so it wasn't a big problem. We started out at Ripley's which was just off the main street in Surfer's Paradise. Ripley's Believe it or Not Robert Ripley  ( February 22, 1890 – May 27, 1949)  began his career as a sportsman and cartoonist. Melbourne Day 5 and 6

 DAY 5  THURSDAY: Melbourne CBD A little sparrow at the markets, I think he was waiting for his coffee order. Vegan cupcakes at the market On Thursday morning we caught the tram to the Queen Victoria Markets. I got another iced decaf coffee. Jon got a breakfast burger. The market was only partway full (there were so many empty spaces) and most of it was the same cheap clothes, tourist merchandise and expensive leather goods. We got a couple of cute presents and a Wednesday tee for $20. We did get a Melbourne magnet for our fridge because I realised a while back having cheesy merchandise from holidays is fun.  After looking around the markets, we headed back to the deli hall for lunch (the food court was closed for renovations).
