A picture of the earrings from the website as my camera didn't want to focus: Do you like Victorian Mourning themed items? Would you wear the belt or earrings?

Vampire: The Masquerade- Coteries of New York

Image
Game cover image, featuring Sophie Langley. Vampire: The Masquerade- Coteries of New York is a visual novel based on Vampire: The Masquerade , a roleplaying game by White Wolf, part of the World of Darkness . In the original game you play as vampires based on an elaborate rule book with courts, rules, and factions. It can be played in many ways from sitting around in a room with friends to full roleplay with costumes and acting. It has a cult following, there have even been some immersive experience LARPs (Live Action Role Plays) in actual castles. I have been interested in VTM since I first heard of it at about 14 or 15 years old but have never played.  This game is co-written by Krzystof Zieba, one of the writers of the New York by Night game book, it is set after after the original game book and features some of the same characters.  Playable characters: Brujah, Ventrue, Toreador Players can choose one of three new vampires embraced (turned) without their permission by a rogue sir

Dark Academia Home Décor Thrift Haul

Image
This décor haul is mostly Dark Academia/ Neo-Victorian themed. Close-ups below. A set of three blue glass bottles. I will probably remove or replace the lids as they are a bit modern. I already removed one before I took the photo, you can see it in the picture below: This is one of my more Cottagecore finds. My thought was that these little ceramic pieces were to write your guest's names on. I am not sure if you are meant to use some kind of erasable marker? Let me know if you know their purpose! The Painted Kiss by Elizabeth Hickey, looks like an ex-library book. In this passionate and atmospheric debut novel, Elizabeth Hickey reimagines the tumultuous relationship between the Viennese painter Gustav Klimt and Emilie Flog, the woman who posed for Klimt's masterpiece  The Kiss  - and whose name he uttered with is dying breath. This beautiful domed display of preserved flowers and gold plated leaves is from Hawaii. Not sure of how old it is but apart from shallow scratches on

Halloween Movies

Image
If you're not into horror films, feel free to skip this post. These are the films I watched for Halloween, starting in August. Some were good, some were very bad. For the ones that weren't amazing I am including a "watch instead" option. Spoilers have been written in white text, highlight the text to read it. Haunt (2019) 5 stars I rewatched Haunt , which I think is the best haunted attraction horror films. The other film that comes near in quality is Hellfest , which is also really scary, but this one has great cohesian with the cast of villains, and the main character's back story is a good addition which makes us more able to sympathise with her.  If you know any other good Halloween haunt films, let me know.  Scarecrow Slayer (2003) 0.5 stars This was one of the worst films I have ever seen. The script was terrible and there was some really bad computer graphics to top it off. The main girl trying to make out with her awful frat boy ex not long after her nic

McCall's M7977 Adapted Update

Image
Original post here I finished my M7977 blouse at the beginning of the year and still hadn't worn it. There were a couple of things I didn't like.  The first was that it was a purposefully oversized pattern and I maybe went a size too large. The fabric I had used was very stiff and didn't like to gather in nicely at the waist when tucked into a skirt. I don't think this would have been fixed by gathering the waist as in the original instructions, as the thick material just didn't like to fold.  The second thing was it just felt too plain (to me anyway). I wanted it to have some kind of ruffle as on the original pattern. I was thinking of a smaller ruffle or some gathered lace, but I didn't have any black lace ribbon in the house so that would have required a long trip to the nearest sewing supply store or ordering online and hoping it worked.  So in the end I decided to just cut out the original ruffle from the pattern in the same lace fabric as the yoke and see
