One Day Make: Pin Banner

I've recently been collecting pins and while my collection is still small, I decided it was time to make something that doubles as storage and display.

The main pin storage systems seem to be cork boards and fabric banners, also known as pennants.

My friends showed me pictures of some of the ones they had and I decided I wanted a banner. I knew I had the items I needed for this at home and I also thought they looked very stylish.

I spray painted a stick black and left it to dry.

I made a template out of scrap paper in the shape I wanted the banner to be. Then I pinned that to some spare velvet fabric and cut it out.

I zigzagged all the edges on my sewing machine and turned them under. Then I pinned the fabric around the branch to make an appropriate sized channel, removed the branch, sewed the channel and put it back on the branch.

After that it was just a case of adding some string to hang it from and pinning on the badges. The pins can easily be removed to be worn as they are simply pinned through the fabric with the backings on the other side.

I'm really happy with how good it looks and to continue to add more pins to my collection.
